The CIC bioGUNE centre is a non-profit organisation which is dedicated to research in the area of biomedicine. It was founded by the Department of Industry, Technology and Innovation of the Basque Government in 2002 and is part of the CRC network (Cooperative Research Centres) of Euskadi, centres which are dedicated to specialised research in a specific scientific or technological area which is considered strategic for economic and social development.
In January 2005, it opened its facilities in the Bizkaia Technological Park in Derio and, since its opening, this centre has made significant progress in biomedical research in Euskadi and in technological innovation.
